The 10th grade students made paintings using acrylic, water color, and spray paint. They chose a medium for the final assignment of creating a painting with a controversial message about a current social issue. Accompanying this unit was a survey of Western painting from the 1800 through 2000,  the science behind the creation of the different medium, and how to best use them.
